| Carol Steyeart |
Carol is an artist who is not afraid to shed a different light on her subjects. With the combination of her unique talent and selection of media she gives you a feeling of being part of the art she creates. She has an eye for making the ordinary…extraordinary. Carol enjoys a mix of watercolor, acrylic and encaustics. Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated wax to which colored pigments are added. The liquid/paste is then applied to a surface — heavy paper, wood, or canvas. Carol uses a hot iron to melt the wax onto the painting surface, creating textures not possible to duplicate with other techniques. This is very stable, but should be displayed away from extreme heat or direct sunlight. Simple forest scenes develop from a few stroked and her vivid imagination; seeing, then developing a path or a waterway, dunes or a meadow.
